The Masters Gardeners in Sussex County are so excited to be able to invite the public to our Demonstration Garden this summer for free workshops. 

  • Tuesday, July 19, 10:00 a.m. Learn About Butterflies Space is limited to 30 individuals.
    • Master Gardeners Maureen Larkin and George Dellinger presenting. There is so much more to butterflies than just their beauty. They are beneficial insects that are important pollinators. You and your children or grandchildren will learn their anatomy, what they eat, how they grow, how they live, and thing we can do to help butterflies thrive. The optional guided scavenger hunt will reinforce that learning. 
  • Tuesday, August 2, 1:00 p.m. Home Grown National Park (HGNP) Movement
    • Master Gardeners Karen Kollias, Louise Finn, and Mary Hall presenting. This workshop will cover the basic aspects of the movement and will visit the Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, HGNP exhibit, with handouts, written information, and tips on utilizing biodiversity and pollinators in your garden. There will be time for Q and A.
  • Tuesday, August 23, 10:00 a.m. Insect Safari
    • Master Gardener Brent Marsh will be the safari leader. Grownups, kids and grandkids will enjoy this lively workshop! We will explore the demonstration garden looking for interesting insects of all varieties Have you ever seen a Hummingbird Moth? Do you know what the Delaware state bug is? We will answer those and many more questions by the end of this workshop.
