Upcoming Nutrient Management Certification Sessions for Horticulture
Due to COVID-19, space in these sessions is EXTREMELY limited. Please only register if you plan to attend the sessions and let us know immediately if you need to cancel your registration.

If you apply nutrients to 10 or more acres of land or have 8 or more animal units (an animal unit is equal to 1000 lbs of live weight) you need to be certified through the Nutrient Management Program.
The following is a brief summary of your certification needs:
- Turfgrass or landscape managers who apply nutrients to land that they own or manage privately (e.g., golf courses, parks, cemeteries, athletic field complexes, schools, etc.) need to attend "Introduction to Nutrient Management", "Soils and Fertility Management", and "Turf Selection and Ornamental Horticulture".
- Turfgrass or landscape managers who apply nutrients as part of a commercial business enterprise (e.g., lawn care company) need to attend "Introduction to Nutrient Management", "Soils and Fertility Management", "Turf Selection and Ornamental Horticulture", and "Commercial Nutrient Handler & Nutrient Consultant," as well as register for a pass the Commercial Nutrient Handler exam.
- Individuals who plan to write nutrient management plans need to attend four sessions, as well as register for and pass the Nutrient Consultant exam.
- Certified Nutrient Consultants in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania who are seeking reciprocity need to attend "Introduction to Nutrient Management."

You will NOT be able receive continuing education credits by attending these sessions.
UD Cooperative Extension’s goal is to safely offer this workshop providing quality educational programming while mitigating the risk of COVID-19 transmission among participants, educators, faculty, staff, and the local Delaware communities.
This educational workshop will include facilities and practices to enhance physical distancing, including:
- Three foot distance between participants and the instructor
- Availability of hand sanitizer and/or hand washing stations
- Sanitization of seating areas
Participants will be required to bring masks. Disposable masks will be provided for participants if needed upon arrival. Participants must wear a mask over their mouth and nose inside the educational facility.
To protect the health and safety of program participants, you should stay home if within past fourteen (14) days you have:
- Tested positive or have been deemed presumptively positive with the Coronavirus;
- Sought testing to determine whether you might have the Coronavirus, and have not yet received the results;
- Been informed that you may have been exposed to Coronavirus or learned that you have been in the immediate vicinity of a person now known to have been carrying the Coronavirus; or
We ask that participants self-monitor and do not attend if you have any of these symptoms at the time of the educational workshop:
- A temperature >100.0o F
- Persistent and unusual dry cough
- Shortness of breath (not associated with an underlying medical condition)
- Difficulty breathing (not associated with an underlying medical condition)
- Chills
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle pain (not attributed to programming activities)
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
