March to the Garden with the Delaware Master Gardeners in New Castle County

Saturday, March 27, 2021, 9:00 am – noon, via Zoom

This event is FREE

Get Jazzed for Spring!  Join the Delaware Master Gardeners in this morning of learning designed for both novice and experienced gardeners.

This program includes:

Herbal Tea Alchemy: Starting Your Own Tea Garden, with Master Gardener Kyneta Lee-Wright

Creating an herbal tea garden is a rewarding way to experiment with your edible plants and add beauty and interest to your garden. It also puts the right herbs at your fingertips to craft your perfect cup of tea. Join us for a presentation on tea gardening and the joys of tea.

In this workshop, we will:

·       Review things to consider when creating a tea garden

·       Talk about plant selection

·       Review harvesting basics

·       Learn about herbal tea properties and flavors

·       Cover the basics of creating tasty tea blends

Creating a Garden for Butterflies with Master Gardener Ron Simpson

Butterflies are welcome, but fleeting, summer visitors to our gardens.  We can increase their numbers if we provide suitable habitat.  This workshop will discuss both the larval and adult feeding requirements, and the native plants and flowers that provide them, for a dozen or more butterflies that we commonly see in Delaware.  In the end, you will understand what to plant in your garden to attract more butterflies.

Registrants will receive a zoom link and additional details to connect to our program by Friday, March 26.  Questions, concerns, please contact Carrie Murphy, Extension Educator, cjmurphy@udel.edu or 302-463-3106 (text preferred).

This program is brought to you by University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, a service of the UD College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, a land-grant institution, and the Delaware Libraries.
These institutions are equal opportunity providers. If you have special needs that need to be accommodated, please contact the office two weeks prior to the event.
